Independent Reporting
Stone Damage Insurance Assessments.
Independent inspection and written reporting of damaged stone benchtops, vanities, splashbacks and floors. Suitable for insurers, property managers, homeowners and builders. Auckland and North Auckland coverage.
A stone damage insurance assessment is an independent, written inspection of damaged stone — designed to give your insurer or assessor the specialist information they need to make a decision quickly and fairly. We've been carrying out stone repair work across Auckland for over twenty years, and our assessments draw on that hands-on experience rather than generic templating.
Insurance assessors are not stone specialists. When a claim involves a damaged benchtop, vanity, splashback or floor, the assessor often relies on a third-party report to confirm the nature of the damage, the most likely cause, and whether the surface can be economically repaired or warrants replacement. That's where we come in.
Our reports are written in plain, technical English — no marketing, no upsell. We describe the damage exactly as we see it, identify the most likely cause, and provide an honest recommendation on repair feasibility with indicative costs for both repair and replacement paths. Where the damage is clearly impact-related, we say so. Where the damage indicates an installation fault or manufacturing defect, we say that too — supported by photographic evidence and our installation expertise.
Most common scenarios: an insurer asks the homeowner for an independent assessment before approving a quote; a property manager needs documentation of tenant-caused damage; a builder or installer is responding to a defect claim and wants an independent voice; a real-estate agent is preparing a pre-sale condition report; or a homeowner is weighing repair against replacement and wants an honest second opinion before committing to either path.
Coverage is the entire Auckland region plus the North Auckland corridor — Hibiscus Coast, Silverdale, Orewa, Whangaparāoa, Warkworth, Matakana and the wider Rodney district. We can usually attend within 5–7 business days; urgent assessments (pre-settlement deadlines, dispute timelines) can be expedited.
If you proceed with repair work afterward, we'd be happy to quote — but the assessment is genuinely standalone. You're free to use the report with any approved repairer. See also our insurance stone repair and crack investigation services.

FAQ
Assessment questions, answered.
What is a stone damage insurance assessment?
+
An independent inspection of damaged stone — benchtop, vanity, splashback, hearth or floor — that documents the damage, identifies the most likely cause, and recommends repair, partial replacement or full replacement. The assessment is provided as a written report with photographic evidence, suitable for submission to your insurer or assessor.
Who needs an independent stone damage assessment?
+
Homeowners whose insurer has requested a third-party report; property managers documenting tenant damage; real-estate agents preparing a pre-sale condition report; builders or installers responding to a defect claim; insurance assessors needing specialist input on stone-specific damage.
What does the report include?
+
Property and benchtop details, stone type and finish, photographic evidence (wide, mid and close-up), description of damage, most likely cause, repair feasibility, repair-versus-replacement recommendation, indicative repair cost and indicative replacement cost.
Are you independent of repair work?
+
Yes. The assessment is a standalone service. You are free to use the report with any approved repairer — we will quote separately if you would like us to carry out the work, but the assessment is not contingent on awarding us the repair.
Do you cover engineered stone, granite and marble?
+
Yes — all natural stone (granite, marble, quartzite, dolomite, limestone, travertine) and all engineered stone (Caesarstone, Silestone, Smartstone, Essastone, Quantum Quartz, Stoneworks and others).
How long does an assessment take?
+
On-site inspection is typically 30–60 minutes. The written report is delivered within 2–3 business days. Urgent assessments (pre-settlement, dispute deadlines) can be expedited.
