Can Granite Chips Be Repaired?

Why granite chips happen, how they are repaired, and what results you can expect from a professional stone repair.

Yes, granite chips can be repaired

Granite is one of the hardest natural stones, but it can still chip along edges, sink cut-outs and corners. The good news is that most granite chips can be repaired without replacing the entire benchtop. A professional repair uses colour-matched, stone-grade resin to fill the chip and then polishes the surface to blend with the surrounding stone.

How the repair works

The damaged area is cleaned and prepared. A resin is mixed to match the colour of the granite, then applied and shaped to match the original profile. Once cured, the repair is sanded, polished and sealed so it is smooth and discreet. The result is usually difficult to find unless you know where to look.

When repair is the right choice

Repair is ideal for small to medium chips, edge damage, sink cut-out chips and corner impact marks. If the slab is badly cracked across its full width, or multiple pieces have broken away, replacement may be more practical. We assess every job and recommend the best option.

Protecting the repair afterwards

After the repair, the stone is polished and sealed where appropriate. Using cutting boards, avoiding heavy impacts and keeping the stone sealed helps prevent future damage. For insurance claims, we also provide before-and-after photos and documentation.
